You will love Farflung if you have ever become "addicted" to GeoGuessr or Wordle. You can play this geography-themed trivia game right in your web browser. As you go on a trip around the world, you'll have to show how much you know about countries, capitals, borders, and languages.
Every day, the game has five fixed questions that start over at 00:00 UTC. The best part, though, is the "Play Unlimited" mode, which lets you play as much as you want with 209 questions each time, without having to wait until the next day.
The way you play Farflung is very easy to understand. You have to read the clues, find the right country on the world map, and click "Drop Pin" to send in your answer for each round of five questions.
This mode is a speed test, and each question has a 60-second timer.
Wander Mode is a calm, timed mode that lets you take your time and think about each answer.
In Farflung, you don't get points for how well you do; instead, your success is measured in kilometers. Based on how "rare" or unknown the country is, a correct answer earns you 40 to 100 km. You can get the highest score of 500 km if you correctly name the five rarest countries.
One of the best things about Farflung is how smoothly it can be used. The controls are easy to understand and work perfectly on both computers and phones:
With a click or tap, you can zoom in or out and choose a country right on the interactive map. Search Bar: If you can't remember exactly where you were on the map, you can quickly drop a pin by typing the name of the country into the search bar.
Here are some helpful tips that will help you get the highest score on every journey:
Don't just pick well-known countries like the U.S., France, or Japan; look for answers that aren't so clear. Higher scores (85–100 km) are often given to smaller or less well-known countries.
Take your time reading the "Field Notes" after each round in "Wander Mode" to learn. At first, choose the "untimed" mode. It's the fastest way to learn more about geography.
You can resume and save your work right in your browser—you don't even need to make an account.
A huge database of questions that are constantly being updated so that you don't see the same ones over and over.
Added "Field Notes" that show all the correct answers after each round.
Farflung is a great casual game that is fun, relaxing, and hard to stop playing. No matter if you only have five minutes to spare or if you want to spend the whole evening challenging yourself, Farflung is always ready to go.Are you ready for your first trip of 500 km? Try it out right now!
